19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been won on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time coach his previous coach.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has consistently improved in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface since spring of 2023.

Victory also means he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event in the past months.

His retrieving strategy and regular reactions on court had caused some to doubt if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

However the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete assertively, backed up by an better serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to push for a third set.

He defended four initial chances in a tight final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he earned victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet incapable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
