Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Group

From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in influence within the city.

Note: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure follow below.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will split off from the main group to undertake their separate journey, apart from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).

Why Split the Party?

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that keeping everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to the DM, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.

Initially, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look out of place, but the developments of the third episode show why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

First, the party understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Character Drivers

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as key figures in the powerful family could assist the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
  • Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the rulers that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This leaves them few options but to head to Timmony in quest for Casimir.

What’s Next?

Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to form the Explorers and Schemers parties.

Audiences can look forward to finding out which players will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on October 24.
